>DEADLINE – FOR DERELICT VEHICLES, ETC. APRIL 30, 2012
AND IML POLICE DEPARTMENT PROGRESS
Friday, March 23, 2012 – IML News – The following information was issued in a Bulletin last week from the Iron Mountain Lake Police Department.
Affective April 30, 2012, explaining briefly, anyone with trash, uncut grass or derelict vehicles on their properties or in their yards will be cited and fined. The ordinances of The City of Iron Mountain Lake will be enforced.
Vehicles which are illegal and/or unable to be licensed for any reason, including vehicles with malfunctioning parts, must be either housed in an enclosed garage or shed, and if not, they must be covered with a manufactured cover or removed from the property. With covered vehicles, a property can have no more than two (2) vehicles that are covered with manufactured covers.
Yards and properties must be cut and there is to be no trash or debris lying about, such as plastic, paper, tires, brush and etc.
This information was issued by IML Police Sergeant Larry Lavander.
In other related news, The IML Police Department is pleased to say that they are making progress to make sure that the Department is well equipped to serve and protect the people of IML.
In a recent City Council meeting, held on Monday, March 12, 2012, it was reported, by Sergeant Lavander, that several of the Department’s vehicles had been decaled and are looking very professional. Also reported was how progress is being made to make sure the vehicles are in good working order, maintained and are properly equipped. Sergeant Lavander stressed that much of which that has been currently achieved with the vehicles was through generous donations and volunteer efforts, and that the Department was thankful for everyone’s involvement.
To continue the progress, requests were made by the Department, to the Board, for additional items and training. They asked the Board of Alderman to grant requests for the purchase of a speaker for a siren, the purchase of summer uniform shirts and the purchase of ammo for firearms training and qualifications. There was also a request for the purchase of four (4) nearly new tires from Randolph Towing, to be used on one of the Department’s vehicles. It was considered an excellent deal by the Board, $100.00 for four (4) nearly new tires, and was also considered a generous offer by Mr. Randolph. All of the requests for improvements and training were granted by the Board.
In a follow up, IML News contacted Mr. “Jimmy” Randolph, of Randolph Towing, in relation to his offer to sell the tires to the City. When asked, Mr. Randolph responded that when he came in possession of the tires, he immediately thought of the City, and wanted to offer them to the City first, and of course at an excellent price. As we continued with the interview, Mr. Randolph, who is a long time resident of IML, mentioned several times that he is always willing to do all he can for the City, and also its residents. And it is no secret, that on countless occasions, “Jimmy” has offered his assistance, services and resources to help the City, any way he could.
As we continued our conversation, and in keeping with his generosity, in lieu of the upcoming April 30, 2012 ordinance compliance deadline, “Jimmy” has offered his help, through Randolph Towing, to purchase any derelict vehicles and/or non-ferrous metals, as an option to the residents, to assist them in meeting the target date. He has offered to pay, the residents of Iron Mountain Lake, $200.00 to $400.00 per derelict vehicle and will also pay competitive prices for non-ferrous metals. In order to take advantage of this offer you, a resident of IML, must contact Mr. Randolph, who is licensed with the City and is also insured and bonded, and make arrangements for him to come and make an assessment of the items you are wanting removed. For more information contact “Jimmy” Randolph, of Randolph Towing, at 573-734-2411.
