>PUBLIC HEARING AND CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MONDAY, JANUARY 12TH, 2015
HEARING AT 6 P.M. - COUNCIL MEETING AT 7 P.M.
The Board will hold a PUBLIC HEARING to discuss sewer rates at 6 p.m. as published in the Daily Journal thirty days ago per guidelines. It will be followed by a regular board meeting at 7 p.m. ~Lanette, City Clerk
>NEW HOURS FOR CITY HALL
Effective immediately: City Hall will be open Monday 8 to 4, Tuesday 8 to 3:30, Wednesday 8 to 4, and Thursday 8 to 3:30. Closed Friday. These new hours will allow for essential errands to be run at the end of certain business days.
The Mayor, the Board of Alderman and the City Clerk, realizing the concerns and issues, came to what they believe is a solution by adjusting the posted business hours for City Hall. Hopefully the new hours will be beneficial for all concerned.
As a reminder: For your after hours convienience there is a drop box located next to the City Hall entrance.

HAD A GREAT TURN OUT
Santa Claus made a special visit to the Iron Mountain Lake City Hall Monday night. The Iron Mountain Lake Park Board turned City Hall into a winter wonderland for the children to enjoy.
City Clerk Lanette Kunz said the board chose the Polar Express theme and everyone, old and young wore their pajamas.

The Iron Mountain Lake Parks Department will once again be sponsoring a Halloween Trunk or Treat event in the Park on the west side of the Lake on October 31st from 6 till 8pm. They are inviting the residents of Iron Mountain Lake and their families to come and set up in the park with their vehicles beginning at 5:30pm then hand out their Halloween offerings to the children of IML beginning at 6pm. Residents are encouraged to come and set up the trunks of their cars with Halloween decorations, dress up in costumes, if you like, and then hand out your Halloween Treats from 6:00 till approximately 8:00pm to the children of IML.
Come and join in on the fun and take part in a fabulous IML Holiday Tradition.

Thursday, October 9, 2014 – IML News – The time is almost here…. Spooky things are already in the air here at Iron Mountain Lake and once again there will be a grand Halloween Party given and ALL the children of Iron Mountain Lake are invited.
The 3rd ANNUAL WITCH HAZEL’S SPOOKTACULAR is to be held on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2014 (Rain Date – Saturday, October 25, 2014) from 7pm - 9pm at 1127 Brown Mountain Rd. (Located ...on the Eastside of IML, at the corner of Brown Mountain Rd. and Eldon), Iron Mountain Lake, MO.
The event is FREE for the children of Iron Mountain Lake.....But donations will also be gladly accepted for the IML Children’s Christmas Fund this evening. Suggested donations are canned goods, non-perishable food items, body care products, gloves, stocking caps, new unwrapped toys and new or gently used Christmas decorations. All of which will be given away to some of the less fortunate families with children who live at Iron Mountain Lake during the upcoming Christmas holiday season.
The SPOOKTACULAR will be filled with lots of fun, surprises, games, prizes, hotdogs, chips, snacks and maybe a few TRICKS for treats. There will also be a spooky Haunted Hayride and Costume Contest (The costume contest is FREE to enter and Walmart gift cards will be awarded.) The event is being sponsored by IronMountainLakeNews.com and the Iron Mountain Lake Parks Department with the help of other wonderful local sponsors and contributors. The event has been organized by volunteers and provided for by generous donations. And by the way we need more Zombie Minion volunteers for the night of the event, and also the set up and tear down. For the evening to be successful we still need people to man Game stations for the children and for the Haunted Zombie Hayride. If you would like to volunteer, donate spooky items, prizes, snacks or baked goods (We still need baked cookies, no nuts please.) for this event contact Witch Hazel via this page with a message or you can call her at 314-805-5819 for more information or drop by City Hall and Lanette will be happy to convey any messages or information.
For your information and your children’s safety, adult supervision of your children is required for this event. There will be NO parking on the event grounds. There will be street side parking and you may also park at City Hall or the Jetty on the eastside of the Lake. The hay wagon ride will be making rounds and will be picking up and dropping off from these locations all evening from 7pm till 9pm.
This should be an exciting and memorable event for the IML kiddies. We are looking forward to seeing you there…..

LAKE COMMUNITY FINDS WAY TO CELEBRATE ICONIC LANDMARK
With the sun shining and a cool breeze coming off the lake, Iron Mountain Lake held its first Dam Festival on Saturday.

While Iron Mountain Lake community's annual Dam Festival was in full swing only blocks away, area law enforcement was busy controlling a "hostage situation" that led to the capture of a wanted felon.

St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to Iron Mountain Lake at 2 a.m. Wednesday morning in reference to a gunshot wound. Detectives found that a 37-year-old man had been shot in his upper leg. As of press time the search was still on for the shooter....

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4TH, 2014 9AM TILL DUSK
COME AND JOIN US - As we will be celebrating the history of Iron Mountain Lake and the historical mining that occured in our immediate area with the very first Iron Mountain Lake “Dam Festival” on October 4th, 2014, 9am till Dusk!
FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES BEGIN AT 9AM
PARADE - 9AM (Staging at 8:30)
Staging of the Parade will begin at 8:30 at the jetty on and will line up south of the Jetty on East Lakeshore on the East side of the Lake. People participating in the Parade are being asked to keep in mind that this is a Historical Event, so period ideas for floats and clothing would be a grand idea, but not necessary! EVERYONE is invited to participate in the Parade! Decorate your Cars, Trucks, Horses, Wagons, ATVs, Bicycles, Flatbed Trailors.... decorate YOURSELF and walk in the Parade!
There will be several highlights included in this years Parade. The Bismarck Marching Band will be here as well as a Christian Motor Cycle Group with approximately 1/4 mile of thunderous participants. There will also be candy thrown from the floats for the kiddies!
The Parade route will begin at the Jetty and will round the Lake on East Lakeshore, to North Lakeshore at City Hall, crossing the Spillway bridge to Gallatin, then on to West Lakeshore. The Parade will officially end at the far end of West Lakeshore where the New Dogpound is being built. So arrive early, pick your spot in the Park to get the best view and don't forget to bring your lawnchairs and be ready to enjoy the Grand Dam Parade!
ACTIVITIES IN THE PARK AT BEAUTIFUL IRON MOUNTAIN LAKE

VENDORS OPEN - 9:30AM (Set up at 7am.) - There are approximately 30 vendors this year selling a variety of delicious treats and items. Kettle corn, jams, jellies, home-made breads, cakes and pastries, jewelry, candles, hand made crafts and accessories, just to name a few of the things that will be available. There are still a few 10x10 spaces available for $10 each. Period re-enactors are welcome. Contact Pam at 573-734-2931.
CHILI COOK-OFF COMPETITION - Judging to begin at 10:30am. Bring a big pot of your best chili, with a $5.00 entry fee, and prove to everyone in the area that YOU make the best Chili in the County!!! (Pre-applying is encouraged and applications can be obtained at IML City Hall or through the mail by contacting Pam at 573-734-2931) Your prize will be the satisfaction of your winning chili being served to the guests of the event by our very own Parks Department as a fund raiser, PLUS you will take home half of the monies raised in the entry fees collected!
HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT - Time TBA - $5.00 entry fee. Bracket elimination rounds until a winner is determined. Winner will get half of the pot.
CHILI EVERY WHICH WAY - 11AM - Chili Every Which Way will be available and served beginning at 11am.
MUSIC - HONKY TONK ATTITUDE - Noon till 4pm
BEER GARDEN - Noon till ????
THROUGHOUT THE DAY - Beginning at approximately 9:30am after the Parade.
RAFFLES- $100 Lowes Gift Card, $50 Walmart Gift Card, $25 Gas Card - 3 chances for a dollar. Raffle tickets are available at City Hall.
SILENT AUCTION - Items TBA - Donations are still being accepted.
STREET DANCE - Time TBA - An evening of music and dancing.
HISTORICAL BOOTH - Highlighting the area's history and its crucial part in the American Civil War, to name a few things.
NAME THE WILLOW TREE - This is your chance to name the iconic willow tree that graces our beautiful Iron Mountain Lake.
MAYOR FOR THE DAY - Children can write a short essay on WHY would they like to be Mayor of Iron Mountain Lake.
JAIL AND BAIL - For a fee you can have anyone put in JAIL, and they must then post BAIL to get out. This should be a fun amusement to watch all day!
A VARIETY OF GAMES AND AMUSEMENTS - There will be a bounce house, pony rides (to be confirmed), Dunking Booth (weather permitting), The IML Police Department will have a very special booth just of the kids, GAMES and much more....
Lots of FUN for EVERYONE!!!! EVERYONE FROM EVERYWHERE IS INVITED TO OUR CELEBRATION!
Bring your lawn chairs, folding tables and blankets and enjoy the day with us at beautiful Iron Mountain Lake!!!

Thursday, June 12, 2014 - IML News - Great News! The IML Parks Department will once again be sharing FREE Movies in the Park this Summer. And to start the Summer off right, on the Summer Solstice, Saturday, June 21st at dusk, they will be showing the animated hit movie FROZEN. This should be a fun evening for the young and the young at heart. Weather permitting they will be showing the film beginning at dusk on the west side of the Lake in the Park. Prior to the showing of the film they will also be providing, free of charge to everyone, popcorn and a beverage.
Come and join us as we celebrate the beginning of Summer! Bring your lawn chairs, bring your blankets and bring the entire family! Having GOOD TIMES and fond memories at Iron Mountain Lake!!!

FLOAT YOUR FLOAT PARADE ON THE LAKE
Wednesday, June 11, 2014 – IML News - Join us on Saturday, July 5th, 2014 beginning at 10am for some old fashion fun! The day will begin with a "Float Your Float Parade" around the Lake at 10am. Decorate your boat, canoe, paddle boat, inner tube or anything else you think will safely float and parade it on the Lake. The Float Grand Marshal will be the Kunz's beautiful swan paddle boat, "Summer Breeze". As the Floats attempt to make their way around the Lake, with surely some escapades along the way, it should make for an amazing and festive display. So be sure to get your lawn chairs out and pick a perfect spot along the Lake to view what will surely be a memorable event. A "Best of Show" grand prize will be given to the one resourceful and creative Floater with the best decorated float. Note: All children must be accompanied by an adult and wearing a lifejacket at all times while participating in the float parade.
After the float parade there will be a day filled with real old fashion fun and games. Sack races, horse shoes, volleyball and a much anticipated greased watermelon game, just to name a few of the activities. There will be food, snacks and special treats! Music will be in the air, children playing and swimming (Children should be accompanied by an adult and any swimming is done at your own risk), folks visiting and meeting their neighbors! Be sure to bring your lawn chairs, tables, family and friends! This should be a Grand Community Get Together!!!!
To end the evening, although the City will not be sponsoring a fireworks display, fireworks can be set off on the Jetty which is located on the east side of the Lake. Share your personal fireworks display with the community. If enough folks or families would get together and share what you have, together it should make for an awesome display of pyrotechnics!
Note: Please organize and use good judgment and extreme caution while igniting fireworks, as you are doing so at your own risk. Please be courteous and pick up your spent fireworks, leaving your park clean and safe. Also as a reminder the setting off of fireworks must end by 12 midnight. Thank you!

IML HOLDS 'RAKE THE LAKE"
Friday, May 30, 2014 - DailyJournalOnline - by Renee Bronaugh - The Iron Mountain Lake community joined together to "Rake the Lake" Saturday.
Volunteers worked to rake up the leaves, moss and algae that had grown so thick in some parts of the lake it made it impossible to swim or fish or even maneuver a boat.
City Clerk Lanette Kunz said years ago according to Mary Self, the city's unofficial historian and resident photographer, the community would gather for a raking festival and end the day with a big bonfire.
“I was unable to let this idea go, so I presented the idea of a 'Rake the Lake Festival' to the board and mayor. They agreed to go ahead with it and the community responded,” said Kunz.... READ MORE

Friday, May 30, 2014 - DailyJournalOnline - Teresa Ressel - After deliberating an hour-and-a-half, a St. Francois County jury determined an Iron Mountain Lake woman was guilty of a March 2013 shooting.
Marsha Rulo, 34, of Iron Mountain Lake, had been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Hey there Iron Mountain Lake friends and neighbors!!! We will be having a very, very special COMMUNITY event, a PARTY!!! Residents from our community are planning and putting this event together. It will be a community helping our community event, but with lots of added fun. It is being called, "RAKE THE LAKE".... We are asking our community to come and join us on SATURDAY, MAY 24th, 2014, beginning at 9am, for a taste of "Old Fashion Fun"! We will be raking the moss, weeds and trash from out of the Lake in order to create some bank fishing and a safe and clean swim area, just like in the "good old days" here at Iron Mountain Lake....Also, there will be attendance prizes randomly awarded to those who are helping to "Rake the Lake"..... How awesome is that????
Later in the day there will be an old fashion style picnic with LIVE MUSIC by the Dream Catchers, mouth watering BBQ with all the fixings will be for sale by 11am, a TRIVIA CONTEST ($5 entry fee per person, played by individuals or a team size of your choice, with seating to begin at 4pm and the contest to begin at 5pm) and KARAOKE ( 7pm till 10pm)! You don't have to be a resident to join in. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!! Bring the whole family!!! Spend the entire day! And don't forget your rakes, and lawnchairs!!!

>POSSIBLE WARD REDUCTION
PROPOSSAL TO REDUCE WARDS FROM 3 TO 2
Monday, May 05, 2014 – IML News – On Monday, April 28th, 2014 the Iron Mountain Lake Board of Aldermen held their regular public meeting. On the agenda was several items, but one was of a more critical nature. Listed on the agenda was to read twice and vote for Bill 14-04-001 Ordinance 87 which would reduce the number of Wards within the City of Iron Mountain Lake from three Wards to two Wards. Although the agenda merely stated that item number 5 was to, “Vote for Bill 14-04-001 Ordinance 87.. Read twice and vote”, with no explanation or prior public discussion, Mayor Pro-Tem, Dustin Steinc, wisely opened the floor for discussion on the matter. This Bill and Ordinance would reduce the number Wards and Aldermen to the original number of two Wards, once again splitting Iron Mountain Lake down the middle, with only four Aldermen, two from each Ward, representing over 600 residents within the City. The measure was being called for since there has been no real apparent interest from individuals in the Wards to represent the residents or the City of Iron Mountain Lake. One glaring example is that Ward 3 has not had full representation for many, many years, and also apparent is that there has been no opposition/contesting in the recent elections for neither the position of Mayor or Aldermen. In the recent past the one option was to appoint Aldermen to fill the positions, which is not a true representation for the citizens, since they have not been legitimately voted for during the yearly April General Election. After discussions of the Pros and Cons, a general show of hands was called for. The larger than normal audience was divided. Alderman Joshua Skaggs of Ward 1 then made a motion to table the vote on the Bill and Ordinance and that an internet “straw poll” of the residents should be conducted so that the residents could voice their opinion on this matter; it was seconded by Bob Lincoln of Ward 1. The Aldermen’s vote was all yes, the motion carried.
Number 3 on the agenda was the findings of the Aldermen, after discussion with the residents in their respective Wards, regarding charging a $3.00 ramp fee for non-residents to launch their boats at Iron Mountain Lake. Also presented was a petition from resident Charles Burleigh of Ward 2 which constituted of 61 residents from Ward 2 whereby all of the signed were in favor of the $3.00 fee for non-residents to launch boats at Iron Mountain Lake. A motion by Joshua Skaggs of Ward 1 was made to move forward and proceed with creating an ordinance in regards to the matter, Bob Lincoln of Ward 1 seconded, a roll call vote was made, the Aldermen’s vote was all yes and the motion carried. Alderman Skaggs of Ward 1 then made a motion to allow $200.00 for materials to create the fee box, to be re-paid to the City within a three year period, Bob Lincoln of Ward 1 seconded, a roll call vote was made, the Aldermen’s vote was all yes, the motion carried.
Other items of interest discussed, voted upon and passed with all yes votes was; to remove former Mayor Goodman from all bank accounts and the CDBG Emergency Grant, that the old pavilion located in the lower end Park be converted to become the new IML Dog Pound, that a trailer be purchased with refunded insurance monies that will multi serve the City after 3 bids have been obtained, that a new wear blade and angle iron be purchased for the backhoe bucket at a cost not to exceed $400.00 and lastly the rental of one portable toilet with the cost not to exceed $100.00 is to be rented for use at the community “Rake The Lake” event to be held on May 24th, 2014.
The next City Council Meeting will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 7pm at City Hall, 591 North Lakeshore Dr. Please make plans to be there!
Note: City Hall will be closed till Monday, May 12, 2014, as the City Clerk will be on Vacation. Due to the Clerk’s vacation, IML Municipal Court has been postponed till Friday, May 23, 2014 at 9am.

> EARTH DAY OBSERVANCE AND TREE PLANTING
April 23, 2014 - IML News - Tuesday evening, April 22nd, 2014 the IML Parks Department arranged for a Tree Planting Ceremony in honor of Earth Day. A small crowd gathered at the corner of Gallatin and West Lakeshore to watch intently as Distinctive Landscape Design of Bismarck delivered and planted a beautiful Colorado Spruce. There was a defining moment when the gentlemen had finished planting the tree. We all gazed in amazement when we observed that a shadow had formed over the tree. It was a shadow of a cross. Everyone there saw it as a sign of good things to come, and that there was some sort of blessing placed upon it since the tree is also meant to be the Community Holiday Christmas Tree. The ceremony ended with a few words from Park Board President, Debra Lincoln, expressing the community's and Park Department's desire to do well by our Earth with the planting of trees. In closing she thanked everyone for turning out. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day!

>10th ANNUAL EDWARDS EASTER EGG HUNT A FUN TIME FOR ALL
April 23, 2014 - IML News - The 10th Annual Edwards Easter Egg Hunt held on Easter Sunday, April 20th, 2014 was a huge success. It was a beautiful day for an Easter Egg Hunt. Sunny skies, light breezes, green grass, birds chirping, Lake glistening. Children of all ages from Iron Mountain Lake gathered in front of the Edwards' home anxiously waiting for Anita Edwards to yell "GO" at a little after 2pm. The children ran, jumped, hopped, skipped and crawled their way around the Park to look for the prized eggs. Everyone had a grand time!

>MAYOR AND ALDERWOMAN RESIGNS
Tuesday, April 15th, 2014 - IML News - Yesterday during a regular Iron Mountain Lake City Council Meeting Mayor Brian Goodman and Alderwomen Brenda Goodman of Ward 2 officially resigned their positions, citing personal reasons and also recently purchasing a home outside of Iron Mountain Lake. Many people commented throughout the crowd about all of the fine work they did for the City and that they would be missed.
There was a packed house at City Hall when Dustin Steinc of Ward 3 and Joshua Skaggs of Ward 1 were sworn in for another term. None of the candidates were opposed during the recent election that was held on April 8th, 2014.
After the swearing in, the remaining Board, which now consists of Bob Lincoln and Joshua Skaggs of Ward 1, Roger Stodgell of Ward 2 and Dustin Steinc of Ward 3, voted for a new Board President and that the said Board President will also serve as Mayor Pro Tempore until another election is held, most likely the first Tuesday of April 2015. With a unanimous vote Dustin Steinc was voted in as Board President/Mayor Pro Tempore. There were mixed reactions from the audience, but generally the response was very positive.

The Board will hold a PUBLIC HEARING to discuss sewer rates at 6 p.m. as published in the Daily Journal thirty days ago per guidelines. It will be followed by a regular board meeting at 7 p.m. ~Lanette, City Clerk
>NEW HOURS FOR CITY HALL
Effective immediately: City Hall will be open Monday 8 to 4, Tuesday 8 to 3:30, Wednesday 8 to 4, and Thursday 8 to 3:30. Closed Friday. These new hours will allow for essential errands to be run at the end of certain business days.
The Mayor, the Board of Alderman and the City Clerk, realizing the concerns and issues, came to what they believe is a solution by adjusting the posted business hours for City Hall. Hopefully the new hours will be beneficial for all concerned.
As a reminder: For your after hours convienience there is a drop box located next to the City Hall entrance.

Santa Claus made a special visit to the Iron Mountain Lake City Hall Monday night. The Iron Mountain Lake Park Board turned City Hall into a winter wonderland for the children to enjoy.
City Clerk Lanette Kunz said the board chose the Polar Express theme and everyone, old and young wore their pajamas.

The Iron Mountain Lake Parks Department will once again be sponsoring a Halloween Trunk or Treat event in the Park on the west side of the Lake on October 31st from 6 till 8pm. They are inviting the residents of Iron Mountain Lake and their families to come and set up in the park with their vehicles beginning at 5:30pm then hand out their Halloween offerings to the children of IML beginning at 6pm. Residents are encouraged to come and set up the trunks of their cars with Halloween decorations, dress up in costumes, if you like, and then hand out your Halloween Treats from 6:00 till approximately 8:00pm to the children of IML.
Come and join in on the fun and take part in a fabulous IML Holiday Tradition.

Thursday, October 9, 2014 – IML News – The time is almost here…. Spooky things are already in the air here at Iron Mountain Lake and once again there will be a grand Halloween Party given and ALL the children of Iron Mountain Lake are invited.
The 3rd ANNUAL WITCH HAZEL’S SPOOKTACULAR is to be held on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2014 (Rain Date – Saturday, October 25, 2014) from 7pm - 9pm at 1127 Brown Mountain Rd. (Located ...on the Eastside of IML, at the corner of Brown Mountain Rd. and Eldon), Iron Mountain Lake, MO.
The event is FREE for the children of Iron Mountain Lake.....But donations will also be gladly accepted for the IML Children’s Christmas Fund this evening. Suggested donations are canned goods, non-perishable food items, body care products, gloves, stocking caps, new unwrapped toys and new or gently used Christmas decorations. All of which will be given away to some of the less fortunate families with children who live at Iron Mountain Lake during the upcoming Christmas holiday season.
The SPOOKTACULAR will be filled with lots of fun, surprises, games, prizes, hotdogs, chips, snacks and maybe a few TRICKS for treats. There will also be a spooky Haunted Hayride and Costume Contest (The costume contest is FREE to enter and Walmart gift cards will be awarded.) The event is being sponsored by IronMountainLakeNews.com and the Iron Mountain Lake Parks Department with the help of other wonderful local sponsors and contributors. The event has been organized by volunteers and provided for by generous donations. And by the way we need more Zombie Minion volunteers for the night of the event, and also the set up and tear down. For the evening to be successful we still need people to man Game stations for the children and for the Haunted Zombie Hayride. For your information and your children’s safety, adult supervision of your children is required for this event. There will be NO parking on the event grounds. There will be street side parking and you may also park at City Hall or the Jetty on the eastside of the Lake. The hay wagon ride will be making rounds and will be picking up and dropping off from these locations all evening from 7pm till 9pm.
This should be an exciting and memorable event for the IML kiddies. We are looking forward to seeing you there…..

COME AND JOIN US - As we will be celebrating the history of Iron Mountain Lake and the historical mining that occured in our immediate area with the very first Iron Mountain Lake “Dam Festival” on October 4th, 2014, 9am till Dusk!
FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES BEGIN AT 9AM
PARADE - 9AM (Staging at 8:30)
Staging of the Parade will begin at 8:30 at the jetty on and will line up south of the Jetty on East Lakeshore on the East side of the Lake. People participating in the Parade are being asked to keep in mind that this is a Historical Event, so period ideas for floats and clothing would be a grand idea, but not necessary! EVERYONE is invited to participate in the Parade! Decorate your Cars, Trucks, Horses, Wagons, ATVs, Bicycles, Flatbed Trailors.... decorate YOURSELF and walk in the Parade!
There will be several highlights included in this years Parade. The Bismarck Marching Band will be here as well as a Christian Motor Cycle Group with approximately 1/4 mile of thunderous participants. There will also be candy thrown from the floats for the kiddies!
The Parade route will begin at the Jetty and will round the Lake on East Lakeshore, to North Lakeshore at City Hall, crossing the Spillway bridge to Gallatin, then on to West Lakeshore. The Parade will officially end at the far end of West Lakeshore where the New Dogpound is being built. So arrive early, pick your spot in the Park to get the best view and don't forget to bring your lawnchairs and be ready to enjoy the Grand Dam Parade!
ACTIVITIES IN THE PARK AT BEAUTIFUL IRON MOUNTAIN LAKE

VENDORS OPEN - 9:30AM (Set up at 7am.) - There are approximately 30 vendors this year selling a variety of delicious treats and items. Kettle corn, jams, jellies, home-made breads, cakes and pastries, jewelry, candles, hand made crafts and accessories, just to name a few of the things that will be available. There are still a few 10x10 spaces available for $10 each. Period re-enactors are welcome. Contact Pam at 573-734-2931.
CHILI COOK-OFF COMPETITION - Judging to begin at 10:30am. Bring a big pot of your best chili, with a $5.00 entry fee, and prove to everyone in the area that YOU make the best Chili in the County!!! (Pre-applying is encouraged and applications can be obtained at IML City Hall or through the mail by contacting Pam at 573-734-2931) Your prize will be the satisfaction of your winning chili being served to the guests of the event by our very own Parks Department as a fund raiser, PLUS you will take home half of the monies raised in the entry fees collected!
HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT - Time TBA - $5.00 entry fee. Bracket elimination rounds until a winner is determined. Winner will get half of the pot.
CHILI EVERY WHICH WAY - 11AM - Chili Every Which Way will be available and served beginning at 11am.
MUSIC - HONKY TONK ATTITUDE - Noon till 4pm
BEER GARDEN - Noon till ????
THROUGHOUT THE DAY - Beginning at approximately 9:30am after the Parade.

MAYOR FOR THE DAY - Children can write a short essay on WHY would they like to be Mayor of Iron Mountain Lake.
JAIL AND BAIL - For a fee you can have anyone put in JAIL, and they must then post BAIL to get out. This should be a fun amusement to watch all day!
A VARIETY OF GAMES AND AMUSEMENTS - There will be a bounce house, pony rides (to be confirmed), Dunking Booth (weather permitting), The IML Police Department will have a very special booth just of the kids, GAMES and much more....

Thursday, June 12, 2014 - IML News - Great News! The IML Parks Department will once again be sharing FREE Movies in the Park this Summer. And to start the Summer off right, on the Summer Solstice, Saturday, June 21st at dusk, they will be showing the animated hit movie FROZEN. This should be a fun evening for the young and the young at heart. Weather permitting they will be showing the film beginning at dusk on the west side of the Lake in the Park. Prior to the showing of the film they will also be providing, free of charge to everyone, popcorn and a beverage.
Come and join us as we celebrate the beginning of Summer! Bring your lawn chairs, bring your blankets and bring the entire family! Having GOOD TIMES and fond memories at Iron Mountain Lake!!!

FLOAT YOUR FLOAT PARADE ON THE LAKE
Wednesday, June 11, 2014 – IML News - Join us on Saturday, July 5th, 2014 beginning at 10am for some old fashion fun! The day will begin with a "Float Your Float Parade" around the Lake at 10am. Decorate your boat, canoe, paddle boat, inner tube or anything else you think will safely float and parade it on the Lake. The Float Grand Marshal will be the Kunz's beautiful swan paddle boat, "Summer Breeze". As the Floats attempt to make their way around the Lake, with surely some escapades along the way, it should make for an amazing and festive display. So be sure to get your lawn chairs out and pick a perfect spot along the Lake to view what will surely be a memorable event. A "Best of Show" grand prize will be given to the one resourceful and creative Floater with the best decorated float. Note: All children must be accompanied by an adult and wearing a lifejacket at all times while participating in the float parade.
After the float parade there will be a day filled with real old fashion fun and games. Sack races, horse shoes, volleyball and a much anticipated greased watermelon game, just to name a few of the activities. There will be food, snacks and special treats! Music will be in the air, children playing and swimming (Children should be accompanied by an adult and any swimming is done at your own risk), folks visiting and meeting their neighbors! Be sure to bring your lawn chairs, tables, family and friends! This should be a Grand Community Get Together!!!!
To end the evening, although the City will not be sponsoring a fireworks display, fireworks can be set off on the Jetty which is located on the east side of the Lake. Share your personal fireworks display with the community. If enough folks or families would get together and share what you have, together it should make for an awesome display of pyrotechnics!
Note: Please organize and use good judgment and extreme caution while igniting fireworks, as you are doing so at your own risk. Please be courteous and pick up your spent fireworks, leaving your park clean and safe. Also as a reminder the setting off of fireworks must end by 12 midnight. Thank you!

IML HOLDS 'RAKE THE LAKE"
Friday, May 30, 2014 - DailyJournalOnline - by Renee Bronaugh - The Iron Mountain Lake community joined together to "Rake the Lake" Saturday.
Volunteers worked to rake up the leaves, moss and algae that had grown so thick in some parts of the lake it made it impossible to swim or fish or even maneuver a boat.
City Clerk Lanette Kunz said years ago according to Mary Self, the city's unofficial historian and resident photographer, the community would gather for a raking festival and end the day with a big bonfire.
“I was unable to let this idea go, so I presented the idea of a 'Rake the Lake Festival' to the board and mayor. They agreed to go ahead with it and the community responded,” said Kunz.... READ MORE

Friday, May 30, 2014 - DailyJournalOnline - Teresa Ressel - After deliberating an hour-and-a-half, a St. Francois County jury determined an Iron Mountain Lake woman was guilty of a March 2013 shooting.
Marsha Rulo, 34, of Iron Mountain Lake, had been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Hey there Iron Mountain Lake friends and neighbors!!! We will be having a very, very special COMMUNITY event, a PARTY!!! Residents from our community are planning and putting this event together. It will be a community helping our community event, but with lots of added fun. It is being called, "RAKE THE LAKE".... We are asking our community to come and join us on SATURDAY, MAY 24th, 2014, beginning at 9am, for a taste of "Old Fashion Fun"! We will be raking the moss, weeds and trash from out of the Lake in order to create some bank fishing and a safe and clean swim area, just like in the "good old days" here at Iron Mountain Lake....Also, there will be attendance prizes randomly awarded to those who are helping to "Rake the Lake"..... How awesome is that????
Later in the day there will be an old fashion style picnic with LIVE MUSIC by the Dream Catchers, mouth watering BBQ with all the fixings will be for sale by 11am, a TRIVIA CONTEST ($5 entry fee per person, played by individuals or a team size of your choice, with seating to begin at 4pm and the contest to begin at 5pm) and KARAOKE ( 7pm till 10pm)! You don't have to be a resident to join in. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!! Bring the whole family!!! Spend the entire day! And don't forget your rakes, and lawnchairs!!!

PROPOSSAL TO REDUCE WARDS FROM 3 TO 2
Monday, May 05, 2014 – IML News – On Monday, April 28th, 2014 the Iron Mountain Lake Board of Aldermen held their regular public meeting. On the agenda was several items, but one was of a more critical nature. Listed on the agenda was to read twice and vote for Bill 14-04-001 Ordinance 87 which would reduce the number of Wards within the City of Iron Mountain Lake from three Wards to two Wards. Although the agenda merely stated that item number 5 was to, “Vote for Bill 14-04-001 Ordinance 87.. Read twice and vote”, with no explanation or prior public discussion, Mayor Pro-Tem, Dustin Steinc, wisely opened the floor for discussion on the matter. This Bill and Ordinance would reduce the number Wards and Aldermen to the original number of two Wards, once again splitting Iron Mountain Lake down the middle, with only four Aldermen, two from each Ward, representing over 600 residents within the City. The measure was being called for since there has been no real apparent interest from individuals in the Wards to represent the residents or the City of Iron Mountain Lake. One glaring example is that Ward 3 has not had full representation for many, many years, and also apparent is that there has been no opposition/contesting in the recent elections for neither the position of Mayor or Aldermen. In the recent past the one option was to appoint Aldermen to fill the positions, which is not a true representation for the citizens, since they have not been legitimately voted for during the yearly April General Election. After discussions of the Pros and Cons, a general show of hands was called for. The larger than normal audience was divided. Alderman Joshua Skaggs of Ward 1 then made a motion to table the vote on the Bill and Ordinance and that an internet “straw poll” of the residents should be conducted so that the residents could voice their opinion on this matter; it was seconded by Bob Lincoln of Ward 1. The Aldermen’s vote was all yes, the motion carried.
Number 3 on the agenda was the findings of the Aldermen, after discussion with the residents in their respective Wards, regarding charging a $3.00 ramp fee for non-residents to launch their boats at Iron Mountain Lake. Also presented was a petition from resident Charles Burleigh of Ward 2 which constituted of 61 residents from Ward 2 whereby all of the signed were in favor of the $3.00 fee for non-residents to launch boats at Iron Mountain Lake. A motion by Joshua Skaggs of Ward 1 was made to move forward and proceed with creating an ordinance in regards to the matter, Bob Lincoln of Ward 1 seconded, a roll call vote was made, the Aldermen’s vote was all yes and the motion carried. Alderman Skaggs of Ward 1 then made a motion to allow $200.00 for materials to create the fee box, to be re-paid to the City within a three year period, Bob Lincoln of Ward 1 seconded, a roll call vote was made, the Aldermen’s vote was all yes, the motion carried.
Other items of interest discussed, voted upon and passed with all yes votes was; to remove former Mayor Goodman from all bank accounts and the CDBG Emergency Grant, that the old pavilion located in the lower end Park be converted to become the new IML Dog Pound, that a trailer be purchased with refunded insurance monies that will multi serve the City after 3 bids have been obtained, that a new wear blade and angle iron be purchased for the backhoe bucket at a cost not to exceed $400.00 and lastly the rental of one portable toilet with the cost not to exceed $100.00 is to be rented for use at the community “Rake The Lake” event to be held on May 24th, 2014.
The next City Council Meeting will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 7pm at City Hall, 591 North Lakeshore Dr. Please make plans to be there!
Note: City Hall will be closed till Monday, May 12, 2014, as the City Clerk will be on Vacation. Due to the Clerk’s vacation, IML Municipal Court has been postponed till Friday, May 23, 2014 at 9am.

> EARTH DAY OBSERVANCE AND TREE PLANTING
April 23, 2014 - IML News - Tuesday evening, April 22nd, 2014 the IML Parks Department arranged for a Tree Planting Ceremony in honor of Earth Day. A small crowd gathered at the corner of Gallatin and West Lakeshore to watch intently as Distinctive Landscape Design of Bismarck delivered and planted a beautiful Colorado Spruce. There was a defining moment when the gentlemen had finished planting the tree. We all gazed in amazement when we observed that a shadow had formed over the tree. It was a shadow of a cross. Everyone there saw it as a sign of good things to come, and that there was some sort of blessing placed upon it since the tree is also meant to be the Community Holiday Christmas Tree. The ceremony ended with a few words from Park Board President, Debra Lincoln, expressing the community's and Park Department's desire to do well by our Earth with the planting of trees. In closing she thanked everyone for turning out. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day!

>10th ANNUAL EDWARDS EASTER EGG HUNT A FUN TIME FOR ALL
April 23, 2014 - IML News - The 10th Annual Edwards Easter Egg Hunt held on Easter Sunday, April 20th, 2014 was a huge success. It was a beautiful day for an Easter Egg Hunt. Sunny skies, light breezes, green grass, birds chirping, Lake glistening. Children of all ages from Iron Mountain Lake gathered in front of the Edwards' home anxiously waiting for Anita Edwards to yell "GO" at a little after 2pm. The children ran, jumped, hopped, skipped and crawled their way around the Park to look for the prized eggs. Everyone had a grand time!

>MAYOR AND ALDERWOMAN RESIGNS
Tuesday, April 15th, 2014 - IML News - Yesterday during a regular Iron Mountain Lake City Council Meeting Mayor Brian Goodman and Alderwomen Brenda Goodman of Ward 2 officially resigned their positions, citing personal reasons and also recently purchasing a home outside of Iron Mountain Lake. Many people commented throughout the crowd about all of the fine work they did for the City and that they would be missed.
There was a packed house at City Hall when Dustin Steinc of Ward 3 and Joshua Skaggs of Ward 1 were sworn in for another term. None of the candidates were opposed during the recent election that was held on April 8th, 2014.
After the swearing in, the remaining Board, which now consists of Bob Lincoln and Joshua Skaggs of Ward 1, Roger Stodgell of Ward 2 and Dustin Steinc of Ward 3, voted for a new Board President and that the said Board President will also serve as Mayor Pro Tempore until another election is held, most likely the first Tuesday of April 2015.
